Editorial Policy

How we maintain complete editorial independence, conduct rigorous hardware evaluations, and transparently handle affiliate partnerships.

1. Editorial Independence

GeekTechReview operates with absolute editorial independence. Our reviews, ratings, and recommendations are driven solely by empirical test data and hands-on evaluations conducted by our editorial team.

We do not accept paid reviews, sponsored ratings, or manufacturer pre-approval of our content. Advertisers and affiliate partners have zero control or input over our test results, scores, or final verdicts.

2. Scoring Methodology

Our product ratings are calculated on a standardized 0–10 scale based on weighted subscores across five key dimensions:

  • Performance & NPU (30%): Synthetic & real-world benchmarks, thermal headroom, NPU TOPS capabilities.
  • Value & Price (20%): Feature set relative to MSRP and competing options in the same price tier.
  • Design & Build Quality (20%): Ergonomics, materials, port selection, display quality, and durability.
  • Features & Ecosystem (15%): Software stability, connectivity standards (Wi-Fi 7, Thunderbolt 5), AI features.
  • Battery & Efficiency (15%): Real-world battery life under normalized brightness (200 nits) and power efficiency under load.

3. Update & Re-testing Policy

Hardware doesn't stay static—firmware updates, driver optimizations, and OS patches can significantly alter performance. We continuously monitor software updates for high-impact hardware.

When a major software update alters performance or introduces new capabilities (such as OS-level AI features), we re-test the product and update the article date with a detailed Changelog.

4. Affiliate Transparency

GeekTechReview is funded in part by affiliate referral commissions. When readers click our outbound retail links (such as Amazon Associates) and make a purchase, we may earn a referral fee.

This fee comes at no additional cost to you. Links marked with affiliate buttons carry rel="sponsored nofollow" attributes in compliance with Search Engine guidelines and FTC regulations.
